Deerock Lake is a premier wilderness destination in Addington Highlands featuring 26 first-come, first-served campsites and a public boat launch. This unmaintained conservation area offers pristine paddling and multi-species fishing within the Elzevir Peatlands Conservation Reserve, providing a rugged, “leave no trace” experience for self-sufficient campers and outdoor enthusiasts.
Deerock Lake sits within the Elzevir Peatlands Conservation Reserve, which protects one of the largest continuous peatlands in southern Ontario. The lake stretches 6.1 kilometres through low ridges and flat wetlands shaped by the Canadian Shield. The surrounding area has long served as habitat for elk, black bear, and moose, and provides a quiet recreational outlet for the nearby community of Flinton. This is not a groomed destination. The reserve is unmaintained, with no modern amenities, and visitors are expected to pack out everything they bring in.
What to Expect
The water here is often still enough to mirror the treeline, and on a calm morning the only sound is your paddle. Access is by water, and the pace is set entirely by whoever is in the boat. Several small islands along the lake host secluded, boat-access campsites for those looking to stay overnight.
