We’re so excited to host you at the 2022 Discover L&A County MEGA Geocaching Event! It’s been a long time since we’ve been able to have the world’s geocaching community join us in such large numbers… we can hardly wait!!!
We expect that our MEGA Water Cache Canoe & Kayak Cruise scheduled for Friday, August 19th at 10am will be another huge hit! In 2019 we had more than 100 vessels participate and we think there will be even more this year.
Here are a few things you need to know that will make the morning paddle run smoothly. Be sure to check the map at the bottom of this page to see key locations and parking areas.
Main Vessel Launch Area
For those of you that have your own canoes or kayaks, please launch at the Centre Street Boat Launch, located at 22 Water Street in Napanee. Note that there is not a lot of parking at this location, so we ask that you please unload your vehicle near the launch and put your vessel in the designated rest location. It will be safe and secure while you park your vehicle in one of the nearby municipal lots or on residential side streets.
Rented Vessel Pick-Up & Launch Area
If you reserved one of our 19 canoes and kayaks (sorry, all sold out) Please meet us at the south end of West Street where your vessel will be waiting for you beginning at 9:30am. Note that there is no parking at the launch area so you will need to walk from a municipal lot or side street to this location. Just give us your name that the vessel is rented under and we will set you up. Don’t forget to bring your $10 payment (cash only).
Hanging with L&A by the Water Event
Even if you don’t wish to paddle, you can join fellow cachers at the ‘Hanging with L&A by the Water’ event (GC9WXMC). Participants will be gathering just east of the Centre Street/Water Street intersection near the big Greater Napanee sign (you’ll see it when you get there). Sign the log book and mingle with other cachers before the paddle. The fun starts for this satellite event at 8:30am.
Again, check out this map to see some of the key locations and parking areas mentioned above. See you on August 19th!
