Redefining Rural

Below are some of the amazing things you’ll find to do in Stone Mills.

Parks, Trails and Outdoor Adventures

The Sheffield Conservation Area provides a 4.5 km looped trail that offers some challenging terrain. This area is also a great place to spot thriving wildlife including: songbirds, waterfowl, reptiles, amphibians and small mammals. Stop in for a hike or to go paddling and fishing.

Location: 8032 County Road 41, Erinsville

Pack your hiking gear and head to Camden Lake Provincial Wildlife Reserve. There are two trails to choose from: The Blue Heron Trail and Cedar Point Trail, both with an easy to navigate asphalt path. You can also launch your boat here and go fishing.

Location: 603 Card Road, Moscow

This area supports 16 provincially rare species so when you wander through this park keep your eyes open for a five-lined skink, a blanding’s turtle or a bald eagle. At Puzzle Lake Provincial Park you can hike, fish, paddle and camp.

Location: The park is located northeast of Tamworth. Hike in at via Norway Lake Road or paddle in using the boat launch on County Road 15th at Gull Lake (small portage required).

The Cataraqui Trail is a year-long, shared use recreation trail that runs through Stone Mills and beyond. Everyone from hikers to cyclists to snowmobilers enjoy the nature views and wildlife that you can discover in this area.

Location: Strathcona to Yarker in L&A County

The Lennox & Addington Dark Sky Viewing Area

The Night Sky Like You’ve Never Seen Before

These days it’s not easy to find a patch of clear sky that’s not obstructed by light pollution. In Stone Mills at the Dark Sky Viewing Area you’ll experience a night sky that was similar to what was typical over 100 years ago. The area is perfect to observe the natural wonder of the stars. Liv Simple Farms is a small, family-run goat and flower farm that specializes in farm fresh body care, specialty cut flowers and Nigerian Dwarf goats. Here you’ll also find farm & lifestyle workshops and seasonal events.

Location: 431 Cowdy Road, Enterprise

Our Communities

First known as Clark’s Mills, Camden East has a population of 306 people today. This welcoming rural community has rolling agricultural land, streams, lakes and the Napanee river running through it.

Croydon is a rural farming community which at one time featured several hotels, a general store, a church, a post office, a schoolhouse, and a gristmill. Today the main attraction is the Salmon River, which runs through the heart of the hamlet. The river is used for fishing, canoeing, and kayaking.

The name of this charming hamlet is to commemorate Napoleon’s retreat from the Russian city in 1812. And even though the name is large in stance this charming rural area boasts a population of only 65 (approximately).
