If you’ve read my previous posts, you’ll already know that I love spending time with animals. When I started working with Naturally Lennox & Addington this summer, I selfishly added LOTS of animal farms when preparing my schedule. I have slowly learned that there are many people that are just like me.
So for this blog, I wanted to help my fellow animal lovers find some fun local places where they can hang out with animals. Let’s get started!
Barking Goat Farms
13 McGill Road, Centreville
Walking into Barking Goat Farms, I was immediately greeted by the friendly goat, Kevin. He and the owner, Deb, showed me around. I got to pet the goats, cats and donkeys. All the animals are calm and easy-going, making this a fun experience for everyone. Each goat has their own personality, so get to know them today. Also, check out their Escape Goat Hideaway, a goat-filled glamping trip you won’t want to miss!

Ruby’s Acres Alpaca Farm
1000 Lucas Road, Odessa
Before going to Ruby’s Acres Alpaca Farm, I had never met an alpaca in person. I learned very quickly that this was something I was missing out on. They are all super sweet and calm animals, so this is the perfect spot to go if you, or someone you’re going with, are a bit nervous around animals. Be sure to check out their shop where they sell products made with their farm’s wool. Ruby’s Acres Alpacas is a super cool experience that I highly recommend!
Hickory Lane Alpacas
7326 County Road9, Napanee
Another wonderful alpaca farm option is Hickory Lane Alpacas. All of the alpacas are kind, gentle, and very food-motivated, so if you want them to be your best friend, just put some food on your hand. They also have many pigs, water buffalo, sheep, and more. This is another place to visit if you are more apprehensive around animals because of their gentle nature and the owners know what they’re doing. Book one of the immersive tours of the farm today!
Loyalist Trading Co
8682 Loyalist Parkway, Bath
One thing I never even dreamed of seeing was goats on a roof, but this summer has been filled with surprises. If you visit Loyalist Trading Co, you can see them too! You can feed the goats using the pully system to put food on the roof. Don’t forget to pay a visit to the Flemish rabbits! They also have a shop with lots of local goodies and ice cream. Experience this perfect photo-op in person!
Second Chance Ranch
6038 County Road 2, Odessa
Just west of Odessa sits the Second Chance Ranch. This is an animal sanctuary where they rehome and rehabilitate animals that need it and are helping them to live their best lives possible. If you’re looking for a place with all kinds of animals, this is the place to go. There are horses, goats, sheep, pigs, and many more. Visit to meet and feed all of the wonderful animals that are just waiting to meet you!
Topsy Farm
14775 Front Road, Stella
Located on Amherst Island is the amazing Topsy Farms! They have foster lambs that are in dire need of hugs and cuddles, so definitely consider visiting. Also, pay a visit to the Instagram-famous Highland Cows. They’re the perfect models to get some good pictures of. Spend an afternoon hanging out with the lambs and cows, and be sure to shop the Wool Shed at Topsy Farms!
