MacKinnon Brothers

You won’t always find the perfect gift shopping online or in the big box stores. With this in mind, I recently decided to partake in a shopping trip to the village of Bath.

This quaint community is located along the Loyalist Parkway between Kingston and the Glenora Ferry. It overlooks Lake Ontario and offers a beautiful view of Amherst Island to the south.

My first stop was Heritage Point Antiques & Gifts. It’s filled with one-of-a-kind finds, including vintage clothing, jewelry, toys and collectibles. Heritage Point is a treasure waiting to be found.

A few doors down is The Lodge Coffee House, where I enjoyed one of the best cups of hot chocolate and home-made cookies around. The building is a transitioned bungalow turned coffee shop and retail location. It also has various hand-made items made by local artisans.

Time for lunch! I made my way to J & P’s Family Restaurant at the corner of Main Street & Church Street. It offers daily specials and seasonal favourites. With friendly staff and a full menu, they are sure to satisfy any appetite. I tried the turkey dinner and finished off with a brownie sundae. Trust me, you will not be disappointed.

On the way home, I made the point of stopping at MacKinnon Brothers Brewing Company, located just outside the village on County Road 22. A farm-based brewery, the old barns have been transformed into the brewing house, with the chicken coop now the tasting room and gift shop. Stop in for a taste of craft beer and seasonal favourites.
