If your idea of a perfect day includes calm water, scenic shorelines and the peaceful rhythm of a paddle dipping into the lake, then Lennox & Addington is calling your name.

With more than 100 lakes and rivers accessible, L&A offers some of the best paddling in Eastern Ontario. Whether you’re into canoeing, kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding, you’ll love winding rivers and quiet inland lakes. There are fantastic routes here for beginners, families and seasoned paddlers alike.

Explore the Napanee River

The beautiful Napanee River is one of the region’s most popular paddling destinations. Launch in Downtown Napanee and enjoy a relaxing float toward Unger Island (10.7km one way), or extend your adventure out to Hay Bay and beyond.

Looking for something a little more sheltered from the elements? The King Street to Strathcona stretch above the Springside Park Falls offers a scenic 9 km one-way paddle through peaceful countryside. Another great launch option on the Napanee River is from Curl Road. Located just west Yarker, the paddle to Camden East (4.5km) is perfect for a relaxed afternoon on the water.

Wildlife sightings, gentle current and beautiful shoreline views make this a must-do for anyone exploring paddling routes in Lennox & Addington.

Salmon River Serenity

The scenic Salmon River is another favourite, creating roughly 6.9 km of paddle-friendly water from the Roblin Launch east to Croydon. It’s an ideal option if you’re looking for an immersive nature experience.

Be wary of going west from the Roblin launch, however, as there are a lot of rapids, as well as falls and dams to contend with. We DO NOT recommend.

Peaceful Lake Loops

Prefer calm, sheltered water? Little Mellon Lake (Sheffield CA launch) offers an easy 2.6 km loop, while you can launch from the Dark Sky Viewing Area and make your way to Big Mellon Lake (9.2km loop). In Addington Highlands, Deerock Lake delivers a scenic 9.2 km paddle surrounded by classic Canadian Shield landscape.

These lakes are perfect for stand-up paddleboarding, beginner kayakers, or anyone looking to truly unplug.

Plan Your L&A Paddling Adventure

Before you launch, check local access points and water levels. Most routes require minimal portaging, though low water conditions can expose submerged obstacles. As always, bring a properly fitted life jacket, sun protection,  and plenty of water — and let someone know your route.

Whether you’re planning a quick afternoon paddle or a full day exploring the waterways, paddling in Lennox & Addington offers a simple, unforgettable way to experience the natural beauty of the region.
