Strawberry season has arrived, and Paulridge Berry Farm, located at 2115 Palace Road in Napanee, is THE PLACE TO BE for strawberry lovers across the region. I have always enjoyed the pick-your-own season, so I made sure to make the trip as soon as they opened their fields to the public. This is their 47th year of operation, so you can trust that they know what they’re doing!

When I arrived, staff was in the parking lot ready to guide me where I needed to go. There was also a booth set up with pre-picked berries for those who aren’t looking to pick berries. These baskets are filled with big, beautiful strawberries that are freshly picked daily by staff. 2L and 4L baskets are available.

As I walked down the path to get to the pick-your-own starting point, I was welcomed by the greeter who helped me get a basket. You can purchase an empty basket for $1, or you can bring your own with you from home.

What I love about this farm is how easy it is to navigate, seeing as I’m someone who gets lost even when my GPS is assisting me. To get to the fields you can either walk or take the tractor ride, to which I immediately jumped on.

Once in the field, a friendly staff member was ready to help me to my own spot in one of the many rows available. This process ensured that I would be able to pick the best berries without disrupting anyone else’s experience. The rows were filled with so many ripe strawberries, I was able to fill up my basket in no time.

Once I was done, I moved the orange flag sitting at the start of my row to where I finished picking so the next person would know exactly where to start. Each step in this berry-picking process was to make sure everyone’s experience is the same and enjoyable.

Once finished, you can, once again, walk over or take the tractor back to the pay booth. I decided to walk back this time to see all of the berries just waiting to be picked by the next lucky visitor.

Everyone at the farm – staff and customers – are so kind, making the overall atmosphere perfect for a bright, summer day. I’ll definitely be back to pick more berries before the season is over. Hopefully I’ll see you there too!
