Growing up in the country, you would think I’d have lots of experience with ATVs, but this is definitely not the case. In fact, I am as beginner as they come.

My mom was (and still is) very protective of her kids driving around on dirt paths, so when I told her I was going to Thrill Seeker ATV Tours in Kaladar for an afternoon, she was a bit apprehensive. However, I was able to quickly ease her mind by telling her about their in-depth safety preparations and the protective gear they provide.

Whether you’re a new rider like myself, a cautious mother of a new rider like my mom is, or an adrenaline-loving experienced ATV rider, Thrill Seeker ATV Tours is the place for you!

When we first showed up, I was having second thoughts. This mindset all changed once the safety briefing started. It was very detailed and helpful for riders of all skill levels. We were told what to do in any situation, what hand signals meant, and taught how the ATVs work. We then got to go on a test ride to prepare for all of the bumps and hills we were going to encounter. This was extremely beneficial and I felt ready for pretty much any situation.

We took the 90-minute beginners tour which provided a good mix of straight paths and different Canadian Shield terrain. The straight paths found on the TransCanada Trail are perfect for people who enjoy being immersed in nature’s beauty, as there are so many different sights to see. We saw multiple turtles as well as many different types of birds. If you’re lucky, you’ll get to see moose, deer, and more.

As we drove off the TransCanada Trails into more dense forest, there were more challenges and excitement to be had. This beginner ride gave us a taste of the thrilling hills, bumps, and puddles, while also giving us time to re-adjust on the flat paths.

There are three additional options offered for higher skill levels and more confident riders, including half-day, full day and overnight opportunities. You can learn all about them on Thrill Seeker ATV Tours website.

As someone who never thought I would want to drive an ATV, this experience was incredible. I felt safe and confident, all while having fun. I was completely covered in dirt by the end, but it was well worth it to experience something that far out of my comfort zone.

Speaking of which, be sure to wear something you don’t mind getting dirty. Rubber boots and jackets are available to borrow on-site, so if you’re like me and wore your favourite pair of white sneakers, you can easily swap them for some boots.

I would without a doubt do this adventure again, and, even if riding the trails on the back of an ATV isn’t something you think you’d be interested in doing, I recommend giving it a try!

Note that a G2 license or higher is required to ride at Thrill Seeker ATV Tours. Check out our website to learn more about this amazing off-road experience.
