Redefining Rural

Addington Highlands is home to an abundance of lakes and rivers, making it the perfect spot for fishing, canoeing and other water fun. From camping to hiking to snowmobiling and more, this is truly an outdoor paradise. Below are some of the amazing things you’ll find to do in Addington Highlands.

Parks, Trails and Outdoor Adventures

Often referred to as Ontario’s most beautiful Provincial Park, Bon Echo is a wonderful place to camp or visit with a day pass. The park boasts campsites, trails, beaches, boat tours and boat rentals. But, the most spectacular site is the famous Mazinaw Rock which is 100 m high and is dotted with 260 Indigenous pictographs on its front.

Nature lovers will enjoy this trail system which offers over 120 acres of rugged beauty through the Canadian Shield. The L&A Forest Trails are an especially popular place for mountain bikers with over 10 kilometres of logging roads and single-track trails designed with bermed curves and elevations.

Location: 100 John Street, Flinton

The beautiful and unique 358 property is in a remote area with ponds, wetlands and several creeks. While you explore Rose Hill Nature Reserve you’ll be greeted with a diverse terrain that includes a forest lined with maple, hemlock, spruce, pine and balsam fir trees. This is a great place for hiking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and picnicking.

The Great Trail is a cross-Canada system that connects us together from the Atlantic to the Pacific to the Arctic Oceans. It is currently the longest recreational, multi-use trail network in the world. A portion of this trail runs through Addington Highlands and offers up a great place to hike, cycle, paddle, or cross-country ski.

Location: Near Kaladar

This is a popular spot for anglers as this lake is home to a large variety of fish. Deerock Lake also has camp sites accessible only via the water, with several found on small islands. Click the link to reserve.

If you’re an avid cyclist, you’ve come to the right place. We have trails that are on and off road to choose from. For more information and to find the perfect trail for you visit here.

Location: Kaladar Pine Barrens Conservation Reserve.

Museums & Historic Locations

While physically located in North Frontenac, the Cloyne Pioneer Museum & Archives houses over 1,000 artifacts showcasing how this region evolved from its lumber industry beginnings to the mining booms to today. The collections reflect the history from settlement time and pioneer life. Learn More

Looking for somethign different? Head to Explorer’s Eco-Emporium 41 for an interesting shopping experience. Browse gifts, collectibles, household items, as well as clothing and accessories for adults & children.

Not only does Holden’s Hearth at Home sell wood stoves, pellet stoves, fireplaces and BBQ’s they also have a passion for woodworking. Stop in and see these amazing art pieces that can sometimes take up to 500-hours to complete and maybe even bring home a custom-carved heirloom.

Every Saturday Glaeser’s Country Store offers sweet bakery treats. You’ll also find groceries, giftware, fishing supplies and more in this gem of a store.

The menu may be small but the food is excellent. Stop by for something delicious at Rosie’s Café.

If you’re in the mood for some absolutely yummy poutine, sausage, wraps or a delicious burger, look no further than Gala Pit Stop. They may have a small location but they are serving up something mighty good.

Cloyne is a delightful village with a number of small shops that provide everything from the essentials to antiques and hunting and fishing gear.
