Take away the ties and tracks! This abandoned railway line has been converted into one of the most popular trails in the area.
The Cataraqui Trail is a year-round, shared-use recreation trail running approximately 98 km from Smith Falls in the east to Strathcona in the west. The trail runs 17 kilometres in Lennox & Addington County from Strathcona to east of Yarker.
In spring, summer and fall it welcomes everyone from hikers to cyclists. In winter it is open to snowmobilers bearing a current Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs trail permit. The Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) also uses the trails for members and events. Cross-country skiers are welcome to share the trail.

Spend a day discovering
As you wander the trail keep a keen eye out and you never know what you’ll encounter. Everything from a variety of birds including herons, ospreys and turkeys; several varieties of turtle including the snapping turtle; several species of snake including the endangered black rat snake; and numerous mammals such as mice, chipmunks, squirrels, rabbits, otters, foxes, coyotes, and deer call this area home.
