The cornerstone for St. Alban’s the Martyr UEL Memorial Church was laid in 1884 on the Centennial of the landing of the first Loyalists in Adolphus Reach. One of its most unique design elements are the sixty-four Minton commemorative tiles that encircle the interior of the church.
These encaustic tiles, memorialize various United Empire Loyalists and other early settlers. The only other examples of encaustic tiles of this quality in North America are in the U.S. Congress buildings in Washington, D.C.
