The Discover Lennox & Addington MEGA Geocaching Event returns August 12 to 16, 2026, at the Museum of Lennox & Addington in Napanee. The only recurring MEGA event in Canada held in the same community every year, DLA draws thousands of cachers from across North America and Europe for five days of geocaching, community events, and night sky stargazing.
The geocaching community has been coming to Lennox & Addington since 2011, and DLA has grown into something the county looks forward to every August. Thousands of cachers from across Canada, the United States, and Europe descend on Napanee for the 2026 MEGA, centred at the Museum of Lennox & Addington, with activities spreading across the county through the week. You can earn multiple geocaching icons over the five days, including a MEGA Icon, Community Event Icon, CITO Icon, Regular Event Icon, Adventure Lab Icon, and an International Geocaching Day Souvenir. What to Expect
Five days of geocaching events, community meetups, live music, kids’ activities, and shoreline paddling across the county. The Official Main Event on Saturday, August 15, runs from 8 am to 5 pm with games, a scavenger hunt, geocoin tables, a photobooth, and closing ceremonies. The fun starts on Wednesday, August 12 until Sunday, August 16.
Here’s What’s Different
- The only recurring MEGA Geocaching Event in Canada is held in the same community every year.
- Attendees can earn up to six geocaching icons and souvenirs in a single event weekend.
- Events span the full county, from Amherst Island ferry caches to the most southerly dark sky site in Ontario.
Good to Know
- Rough camping is available at UEL Heritage Park, 54 Park Road in Adolphustown, on a per/night per adult for dry camping. Reservations can be made by emailing camping@uel.ca or calling 613-373-2196. The 2026 cache listings will be published closer to the event date. In the meantime, the 2025 Bookmarked List is available at geocaching.com/plan/lists/BMEPZXK.
- LOCAL TIP
Book your kayak or canoe rental early for the Friday Water Cache Canoe and Kayak Cruise along the Napanee River. Rentals are limited, and bookings open in spring.

- An early morning meetup for geocachers. The location is close to the ferry to Amherst Island, which is home to plenty of caches worth the crossing. The ferry leaves from the mainland every half hour.

- Meet up with fellow geocachers and earn a Community Celebration icon.

- Lennox & Addington is home to the most southerly dark sky site in Ontario. Weather permitting, a laser-guided tour of the night sky with telescope viewing of celestial objects at the Lennox & Addington Dark Sky Viewing Area.
- Location: 7980 County Road 41, Erinsville
- A cache-filled paddle along the shoreline. Bring your own vessel, or rent one through the event. A limited number of rentals will be available closer to the date.

- The annual Kick-Off Party at the Museum of Lennox & Addington. Catch up with returning cachers, meet new ones, get your photo taken with Signal, and set the tone for the weekend. Admission is free.
- Location: 97 Thomas Street East, Napanee
- 8:00 am — Event officially begins
- 8:00 am to 10:00 am — Live music, free coffee and snacks
- 9:00 am to 12:00 pm — Kids geocaching activities, including a colouring contest, creating a geocache, and more
- 9:00 am to 3:00 pm — Geocaching games, including Geo-Plinko, Ammo Can Toss, Spin to Win
- 8:00 am to 2:00 pm — Geocoin and trackable tables open
- 11:00 am to 1:00 pm — “DLA XI” Photobooth
- 8:00 am to 3:30 pm — On-site geocaching scavenger hunt
- 4:00 pm to 4:05 pm — Group photo. Be there early and keep the tradition going.
- 4:15 pm to 5:00 pm — Prizes and closing ceremonies
- L&A lets the geocaching community play across the county all week. This is the morning to give a bit back. They supply the bags and handle the trash. You bring gloves.
