The BFPs have been around since 2002. In that time, they have performed at schools, festivals, parks, libraries and other public events across Eastern Ontario. The players have performed plays that explore Canadian History, Canadian Folklore, Indigenous Folk Tales, adaptations from beloved Canadian authors and children’s creators and original creations devised and conceptualized by Queen’s students and local artists. In their 20 years of touring, the Players have treated thousands of children and families to the magic of live theatre. For many of these children, a Barefoot Players performance is their first experience with live theatre – and one we hope will stick with them for the rest of their lives. As part of the Queen’s Summer Work Experience Program, the Barefoot Players job placement provides students of the DAN School of Drama & Music with valuable early professional experience.
