We are very fortunate to have many passionate residents, organizations and municipal staff members that care about our county’s history and help tell our unique story. I’ve curated a list for you so you can learn a little bit more about some of our wonderful historic sites.
St. Alban’s Centre
10419 Loyalist Parkway, Adolphustown
Looking to test out your puzzle solving skills? Try out St. Alban Centre’s Great Bath Bank Heist escape room! Explore the historic church to solve the mystery. While you’re there, be sure to grab a coffee, take a tour, look through the Garage filled with antiques and treasures, and shop the beautiful Rectory Bookstore. Keep an eye open for the upcoming summer concerts hosted at St. Alban’s Centre.
UEL Heritage Centre & Park
54 Park Road, Adolphustown
As someone who was never the best in history class, the tour at the United Empire Loyalist Heritage Museum was amazing to learn from! I left feeling more connected to and knowledgeable about the origins of L&A County. Take a tour and explore the Victorian mansion filled with artifacts and unique displays. I don’t think I’ve ever said “Wow! That’s so cool!” so many times while walking through a museum.
Old Hay Bay Church
2368 South Shore Road, Adolphustown
The Old Hay Bay Church is the oldest surviving Methodist church in Canada, and we’re lucky enough to have it right in Lennox & Addington County! Take a step into Loyalist history through the well-preserved building and its many souvenirs from the past. Have a picnic on the property and immerse yourself in all the Old Hay Bay Church has to offer.
Bath Museum
434 Main Street, Bath
The Bath Museum was built in 1861 as the Town Hall of Bath and now serves as a place to learn about Bath’s interesting history. There are artifacts dating back 400 years, from pre-colonial times to World War II. With their ever-changing displays, there is always something new to learn about! Stop by today and explore the Bath Museum.
Babcock Mill
100 Bridge Street, Odessa
You may have heard the name Better Baskets By Babcock. They were produced right here in Lennox & Addington at the historic Babcock Mill. Today, you can visit the mill and take a tour to learn how these baskets were made. The original machines that were used in the process are still on display. While you’re there, take some time to sit by the Millhaven Creek and enjoy the wonderful property around the mill.
Museum of Lennox & Addington
97 Thomas Street East, Napanee
The Museum of Lennox and Addington is filled to the brim with L&A history! With ever-changing exhibits worked on by skilled staff, there is so much to explore. The Archives located within the museum hold a large collection of letters, photographs, and more, giving insight into the lives of generations of L&A residents. It’s the perfect spot for doing genealogical research.
