As much as I love planning my own day that is tailored to my own specific interests, sometimes it’s nice to have a pre-assembled list of must-see places that you can follow along and, hopefully, enjoy as much as the person that created it.
I recently spent a day in Loyalist Township and visited some can’t-miss locations. I had such a great time that I’ve created a Day in Loyalist itinerary so you can follow along on my adventure! There are many more amazing places to check out along the way, so feel free to add in other locations and further explore the Township.

Bread and Butter Bakery
376 Main Street, Bath
The newest edition to the beautiful town of Bath is the Bread and Butter Bakery. With its many delicious pastries and bakery items, this is the perfect way to begin your day of fun. I got a cream puff which was perfectly made. They also have local products for purchase, like bouquets of Wynn Farm’s flowers.
Wanting a coffee to go with your baked good? Get a cup from Bread and Butter Bakery, or get a specialty coffee at the Lodge Coffee House right down the street!
Kayakomat
341 Main Street, Bath
If you’re someone who enjoys kayaking but doesn’t own one, or don’t like to lug yours around with you, check out Kayakomat in Bath! There’s an online booking system where you can borrow a kayak or paddle board, open 24/7! You just show up at your allotted time slot, unlock your choice of boat (I took a kayak) and get going! It’s a super easy self-service system. I kayaked along the shoreline of Lake Ontario and had so much fun while doing it!
Parrott’s Bay Conservation Area
4977 Bath Road, Amherstview
After a great time in Bath, I headed a few kilometres east to Parrott’s Bay Conservation Area in Amherstview. I enjoyed hiking the beautifully maintained trails. There is lots of greenery and wildlife to immerse yourself in. There are different paths to follow with varying terrain that you can choose from. This was a nice hike to do in the midmorning before the summer heat took over. You can hike, cycle, fish, and more here at the wonderful Parrott’s Bay.
the GIDDY GOAT cafe
6 Speers Boulevard, Amherstview
After quite the active morning, I was in desperate need of something to eat. I headed down the road to the GIDDY GOAT cafe where I was greeted by the lovely staff and ate a delicious chicken, brie, and apple sandwich. They offer 5 other types of sandwiches, as well as some salads, a soup of the day, and, best of all in my opinion, baked goods. If you’re looking for a pick-me-up, grab one of their many caffeinated options, like a cappuccino, chai latte, or an espresso.
Fairfield House and Park
4574 Bath Road, Amherstview
Following my much-needed break, I went to the Fairfield House and Park to explore and learn some local history of the area. Take a tour of historic house in all its well-preserved glory. After exploring the house, take a walk or sit by the water. There are lots of benches and picnic tables for you to use and hang out at. You can even take your lunch from the GIDDY GOAT cafe and enjoy it by the water.
Babcock Mill
100 Bridge Street, Odessa
I was in the mood to know more about the historic journey of Loyalist Township, so I had to stop in at the Babcock Mill. During my visit I learned all about the Mill’s history and the basket-making process used to create the famous Better Baskets by Babcock. There are three floors of the Mill to explore which are packed with Odessa’s vast history. Get a tour from the knowledgeable tour guides and have fun immersing yourself in Odessa’s past.
Wilton Cheese Factory
287 Simmons Road, Wilton
To end a very eventful day, stop in at the Wilton Cheese Factory for some of the best cheese you’ll ever taste. They offer many types of cheese, pastries, honey and maple syrup. Don’t forget to try their famous cheese curds. With the many yummy cheeses and treats to try, this is the perfect spot to stop in at after a busy day.
